Abstract:

Macedonia faces heightened susceptibility to frequent landslides as a result of significant erosion from weak regional geology and soil, scarce vegetation due to a semi-arid climate, and steep slopes given the dominant mountainous terrain.

This study examined differences in global and regional susceptibility mapping, in the context of Macedonia, by comparing the predictive factors used in the susceptibility models' raster functions as well as the distribution of observed landslide inventory events across risk zones.
